9:00 PM Performance (20′)

Driving to a better place by Rochus Aust (Germany)

A five-part composition for remote-controlling trumpet, four-channel audio-electronics, remote-controlled monster trucks, and AI-controlled robotic vacuum cleaners

A – While the two AI-controlled robotic vacuum cleaners choose, learn, and store their own paths and obstacles, the model monster trucks are controlled live by a player who navigates them using a variety of acoustic materials from their trumpet. The toy monster trucks are superior to the robotic vacuum cleaners in speed and variability; they can overtake them, stop them, or even provoke collisions. However, they can also crash, which is virtually impossible for the AI-controlled robotic vacuum cleaners.

B – The movement patterns of all the participants create both shared soundscapes and widely separated acoustic situations. In the composition, the electro-acoustic material reacts to the movements not only acoustically, but also in a way inherent to the material itself. This creates an (acoustic) game of confusion in which it becomes increasingly unclear who is
being controlled by what or whom.

C – Ideally, the play with the toy and with the AI as a toy initially predominates, only to perhaps later freeze the laughter somewhat.

D – Driving to a better place is integrated into the work cycle PLANETARIUM OF SENSELESSNESS?, a collection of diverse formats in which Rochus Aust shifts, overlays, hijacks, deconstructs the perspectives on social processes, calibrates them to or even withdraws them from humanity .

9:30 PM dj set – gombaxx

Drawing on a wide range of musical influences from the diaspora, Gombaxx crafts sets driven by an eclectic mix of rhythms. Moving through Gqom, baile funk, batida, dembow, Jersey club, bass, and the many electronic offshoots of the Latin and queer scenes, their sets guarantee an immersive journey into a world that portrays the new wave of the Afro-descendant experience.
