6 pm An encounter of a different kind
with two independent magazines born in 2025 in Marseille
Comme nous brûlons fondée by Sihem Benmina in 2024 is a space for exchange, experimentation, and breathing space reserved for diasporic authors. This magazine, which operates without white people, aims to promote dissident imaginations by giving them a place to proliferate. The first issue, published in June 2025, is dedicated to departure: you will read stories about immigration, exile, solitude, and loss, but also about hours spent in cars or planes, summer returns, memories of places and people who shape our identities.

République indépendante des immigré.e.s de Marseille by uncivilized collective : “One day, I walked into a bookstore and bought “Writing Marseille,” published by Folio. Fifteen authors, big names. On the cover: “the Phocaean city.” Inside: emptiness. Bland texts, as if Marseille had no sweat, no anger, no accent, no mixture. I closed the book with a bitter taste: where are our people? Where are those who live in Marseille, who inhabit it from the margins, who speak it with their intertwined languages? This book was born from that frustration. A response, a literary insurrection. Twenty-five immigrant, non-white authors write their Marseille—plural, feverish, untamed. Here, we write as foreigners. We write as heirs of exile, of concrete, of the sea, and of neighborhoods. We reinvent the city, at the height of bodies, of love, of rage, and of dignity. Independent Republic of Immigrants of Marseille: a literature of interstices, an affective and political map of the city, a living archive of those we always forget to invite to write History. »

9:45 pm Performance “Améthysta” ……ANNULÉ……
by Geneviève Favre Petroff (30′ – Switzerland)
“Améthysta questions technology and how it can enhance us, support us, and develop us as humans or everyday heroes. In this performance, I hybridize Greek mythology as much as Japanese popular culture, referencing Artemis the teenage warrior and teacher, Nike the winged victory, anime, and video games.”
