Chronicles of Urban Nostalgia
Exploring Time and Conflict

For the third year, we present an exhibition made with 3 voices, on 3 territories:

  • Marseille (France), 5 art works were selected in the frame of the 37 Festival Les Instants Vidéo
  • Montreal (Canada), Rojin Shafiei wrote a curatorial text inspired by the art works
  • Ispahan (Iran), Elnaz Rajabiyan will create the setting for the works and the public

In the relentless chase for money, we battle with cities, seeking peace within their concrete embrace. We delve into the depths of our memories, searching for fragments of our past, hoping to unearth the best versions of ourselves, buried in nostalgia.

Time, ever fleeting, slips through our grasp as we run breathlessly after it. Humans, forever in pursuit, can never quite catch the elusive seconds. This endless race breeds conflicts within us, spilling over into the spaces between us. We clash, not only with each other but with our own reflections, distorted by the urgency of time.

In the end, we strive to forget. We yearn to erase the traces of our hurried lives, the marks left by our desperate attempts to outrun the ticking clock. We long to forget how fervently we ran and how swiftly time flew past us. But what remains? The memories, faint echoes of moments lived – from when, though?
This exhibition invites you to pause, to step out of the race, and to reflect. Through video art and electronic poetry, we explore the ephemeral nature of human experience, the ceaseless pursuit of time, and the inevitable conflicts that arise from our interactions with the world and each other.
Like a city unfolding its layers, the works presented here reveal the multifaceted human condition. They navigate the paradox of our existence – our drive to achieve, our struggle for peace, and our yearning for a connection to our past. These artistic expressions weave together personal and collective histories, challenging us to confront our nostalgia, acknowledge our struggles, and ponder what truly remains when all else fades.
