This program is the result of a three-way conversation rooted in three territories: Marseille, Montreal and Isfahan:

  • Marseille (France): the works are selected as part of the Les Instants Vidéo Festival;
  • Montreal (Canada): Rojin Shafiei develops a curatorial text based on the selected works;
  • Isfahan (Iran): Elnaz Rajabiyan designs and creates the setting that will house the works and welcome the audiences.

We live in a world where, in many corners at once, people are experiencing realities we once imagined belonged only to the past.
Across borders and generations, people are living through forces larger than their own bodies. Children are witnessing and experiencing things that may remain inscribed in them for years to come. Violence, displacement, fear, resistance, memory and survival are not abstract ideas. They are lived physically, emotionally and collectively.

In this context, art can create a different kind of space.
A space not necessarily to provide answers, but to look again. To feel, to question, to remember and sometimes to imagine differently. Art can be political without becoming a statement. It can be sensual and reflective at the same time. It can bring us close to experiences that are not our own, while reminding us of what is shared between us.

Within this program, we would like to create such a space: a moment to encounter images, voices, bodies and stories, and to allow them to resonate beyond the immediate experience of watching.
We invite you not only to watch, but to experience, to reflect and to remain open to what these works may awaken.

At a time when the world can feel increasingly fragmented, perhaps gathering around art is also a way of creating a temporary space for attention, sensitivity and connection.
