J’ai 18 ans (La guerre)

Dans cet essai cinématographique, la cinéaste utilise ses propres « images » pour illustrer les souvenirs de Lisa (Yelyzaveta), une ukrainienne de 18 ans qui a vécu quelques mois à Montréal. Deux inconnues, si loin si proche.

In this cinematic essay, the filmmaker intertwines imagery from her own daily life with the memories of Lisa (Yelyzaveta), an 18-year-old Ukrainian who lived in Montreal for a few months. Two strangers, so far yet so close.

Originaire du Saguenay–Lac-Saint-Jean, Romane Pilote Lamontagne étudie le cinéma à l’UQAM. À travers son travail, elle cherche à insuffler la vie à des fragments de mémoire, soit en les mettant en lumière, soit en les intégrant à la fiction. « To Be Eighteen (The War) » est son premier film.

Originally from Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean, Romane Pilote Lamontagne studies film at UQÀM. Through her work, she seeks to breathe life into fragments of memory, either by bringing them into the light or by weaving them into fiction. To Be Eighteen (The War) is her first film.
