Une femme rêve du cryptographe américain Hal Finney. Une crise économique majeure affecte le marché des cryptomonnaies, des dizaines de milliers de personnes sont cryogénisées en attendant un avenir meilleur. Sont-elles suspendues ou en train de sombrer dans le vide ? Quel étrange rapport entretenons-nous avec l’avenir ?

A woman dreams of the American cryptographer Hal Finney. A major economic crisis affects the cryptocurrency market, tens of thousands of people are cryogenized waiting for a better future. Are they suspended or falling into the void? What strange relationship do we have with the future?

Gala Hernández López est artiste-chercheuse et cinéaste. Son travail s’articule autour de recherches interdisciplinaires, de films-essais, d’installations vidéo et de performances sur les nouveaux modes de subjectivation spécifiquement produits par le capitalisme numérique computationnel. Elle examine, d’un point de vue féministe et critique, les discours et les imaginaires circulant dans les communautés virtuelles comme autant de fictions symptomatiques d’un état du monde. Son travail a été présenté à la Berlinale, au DOK Leipzig, au Cinéma du Réel, à IndieLisboa, à la Transmediale et au Salon de Montrouge, entre autres. Son film « La Mécanique des fluides » a été sélectionné aux César 2024 et a remporté le Prix de l’Œuvre Expérimentale 2023 de la Scam (France), parmi une douzaine de prix. Elle est doctorante à l’Université Paris 8, où elle développe un projet de recherche-création sur la capture d’écran et où elle enseigne depuis trois ans. Elle a été professeure associée (ATER) à l’Université Gustave Eiffel et chercheuse invitée à la Filmuniversität Konrad Wolf de Babelsberg (Allemagne) grâce à une bourse de recherche du DAAD. En 2023-2024, elle est artiste en résidence à l’Académie de France en Espagne – Casa de Velázquez. Elle codirige le collectif de recherche et de création After Social Networks (www.after-social-networks.com). Elle anime régulièrement des ateliers et des conférences-performances, notamment à la Filmuniversität Konrad Wolf, aux Beaux-Arts de Marseille, à la Photographers Gallery ou au Festival du film de Locarno. www.galahernandez.com

Gala Hernández López is an artist-researcher and filmmaker. Her work articulates interdisciplinary research with the production of essay films, video installations and performances on the new modes of subjectivation specifically produced by computational digital capitalism. She examines from a feminist and critical lens the discourses and imaginaries circulating in virtual communities as symptomatic fictions of a state of the world. Her work has been shown at Berlinale, DOK Leipzig, Cinéma du Réel, IndieLisboa, Transmediale and the Salon de Montrouge, among others. Her film “The Mechanics of fluids” was selected for the César awards 2024 and won the Experimental Work Award 2023 of la Scam (France), among a dozen awards. She is a PhD candidate at the University Paris 8, where she is developing a research-creation project on screen capture and where she has taught for 3 years. She has been an Associate Professor (ATER) at the University Gustave Eiffel and a visiting researcher at the Filmuniversität Babelsberg Konrad Wolf (Germany) thanks to a DAAD research grant. In 2023-2024, she is an artist in residence at the French Academy in Spain – Casa de Velázquez.
