Couto Mixto

Ruben présente à Clara le Couto Mixto, autrefois un État indépendant d’identité hybride galicienne et portugaise. C’est là que Sara, la sœur de Clara, a connu un moment de paix rare avant sa mort. Cent cinquante ans après sa disparition, les habitants célèbrent toujours le vieil État et son hymne chante la gloire d’« un morceau de terre semé d’espoir, une entéléchie libertaire ». Ruben et Clara tentent de s’immerger dans sa mystique, de ressentir son réconfort et de rechercher les échos du passé.

Ruben introduces Clara to Couto Mixto, once an independent state of Galician and Portuguese hybrid identity. It was there where Sara, Clara’s sister, had a moment of rare peace before she died. A hundred and fifty years after its extinction, the locals still celebrate the old state and its anthem sings the glory of “a whole piece of land sown in hope, a libertarian entelechy”. Ruben and Clara try to dive into its mystique, feel its comfort, and search for the echoes of the past.

Le premier long métrage de João Gomes « Natália, A Diva Tragicómica » (2011) est un documentaire produit pour la RTP2 (chaîne de télévision culturelle publique), où tous ses films ont été projetés (notamment « Estórias » et « Tio Carlos 1942-1969 »). João est diplômé en sociologie et cinéma et a une maîtrise en développement de projets cinématographiques, complétée avec mention, à l’Escola Superior de Teatro e Cinema de Lisboa (ESTC), pour le film « A Noite De Santo António » (Vigo, Blow Up Chicago et bien d’autres sélections internationales). Il réalise actuellement « Filhos de Tuga », une série documentaire tournée en Afrique, sur les enfants que les militaires portugais ont laissés derrière eux pendant la guerre coloniale. Cette coproduction hispano-portugaise « Couto Mixto » est également son septième film. Il est également critique de cinéma, formateur certifié sur divers sujets cinématographiques et fondateur et directeur de Cinalfama International. Festival du Film, une référence culturelle indépendante à Lisbonne.

João Gomes‘s first feature film « Natália, A Diva Tragicómica » (2011) is a documentary produced for RTP2 (public cultural tv channel), where all his films were shown (namely « Estórias » and « Tio Carlos 1942-1969»). João has a degree in Sociology and Cinema and a Master’s degree in Cinematographic Project Development, completed with honors, at the Escola Superior de Teatro e Cinema de Lisboa (ESTC), for the film « A Noite De Santo António » (Vigo, Blow Up Chicago and many others international selections). He is currently directing « Filhos de Tuga », a documentary series shot in Africa, about the children that the Portuguese military left behind in the Colonial War. This Portuguese-Spanish co-production « Couto Mixto » is his seventh film. He is also a film critic, a certified trainer on various film topics, and the founder and director of the Cinalfama International Film Festival, an indie cultural reference in Lisbon.
