BOOKANIMA: Martial Arts

BOOKANIMA, contraction de « Book » (livre) et « Anima » (animation), est une animation expérimentale qui donne une nouvelle vie cinématographique au livre. Elle vise à « regarder le livre » dans un espace intermédiaire entre le livre et le cinéma, grâce à une locomotion basée sur la chronophotographie. Elle se compose de quatre chapitres : arts martiaux, danse, jeux de balle et sports. Elle explore la locomotion des arts martiaux et leurs différentes disciplines : Jeet Kune Do, Nunchaku, Shaolin Quan, coup de pied chinois, mante religieuse, Tai Chi, Baguazhang, Wing Chun Quan, karaté, judo, Gon, kendo, kyudo, sumo, sibpalki, taekkyeon, taekwondo, muay thaï, kickboxing, lutte, boxe, escrime, jiu-jitsu, krav maga, kali, arnis, capoeira, MMA, cascades, etc.

BOOKANIMA, a compound word of ‘Book’ and ‘Anima’, is Experimental Animation to give book new cinematic life. It aims ‘Watching Book’ in the third scope between Book and Cinema through Locomotion based on Chronophotography. It consists of 4 chapters: Martial Arts, Dance, Ball Games, Leports. It experiments locomotion of Martial Arts along with its stream: Jeet Kune Do, Nunchaku, Shaolin Quan, Chinese Kick, Praying Mantis, Tai Chi, Baguazhang, Wing Chun Quan, Karate, Judo, Gon, Kendo, Kyudo, Sumo, Sibpalki, Taekkyeon, Taekwondo, Muay Thai, Kickboxing, Wrestling, Boxing, Fencing, Jiu-Jitsu, Krav Maga, Kali, Arnis, Capoeira, MMA, Stunt Action, etc.


Né à Séoul, en Corée du Sud, Shon Kim est titulaire d’une licence en droit de l’université Hanyang, d’un BFA en cinéma et vidéo de la School of the Art Institute of Chicago, d’un MFA en animation expérimentale de CalArts et d’un doctorat en théorie de l’animation de l’université Chung-Ang. Il travaille à New York.

Shon Kim, born in Seoul, S. Korea, holds BA in Law from Hanyang University, BFA in Film & Video from School of the Art Institute of Chicago, MFA in Experimental Animation from CalArts, and Ph. D in Animation Theory from Chung-Ang University. He works in New York.
