3rd stop in the celebration of 50 years of video arts<\/strong><\/p>\n

A cooperation Biblioth\u00e8ca Art Center and Les Instants Vid\u00e9o to create the first Video art festival in Alexandria.<\/p>\n

The story behind<\/strong><\/p>\n

Since 2009, Les Instants Vid\u00e9o Num\u00e9riques et Po\u00e9tiques have been developing cooperations projects on video and digital art with Egyptian partners, cultural organisations and artists :<\/p>\n

– 2009: together with ZINC, the project Memory and Futurism in Alexandria and Cairo – a workshop (video as well as more a theoretical approach) following the path of Marinetti (born in Alexandria and founder of Futurism movement), and video art screenings in different spaces;<\/p>\n

– 2010: 3 evenings of international video art screenings in the Bibliotheca in Alexandria and one in the French Cultural Center in Cairo;<\/p>\n

– 2011: presentation of works of art and invitation of artists from Egypt to the 24th edition of the festival Les Instants Vid\u00e9o in Marseilles, and in Palestine in the frame of the festival \/si:n\/ co-organised by the Qattan Foundation (among others).<\/p>\n

– 2012: presentation of video art works and video installations in Marseilles and participation in 4 evenings of screenings and conferences in the Bilblioth\u00e9ca Art Center in Alexandria.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

At the end of this last event, Les IV and Marc Henine (in charge of the temporary exhibition for the Bibliotheca) decided to strengthen their collaboration with the organisation of an international exhibition of video art installations in April 2013. Then, in collaboration with Ahmed Nabil (in charge of the programming of the Art Center), was decided to enlarge the project with screenings and conferences. That how was born the idea of organising the first video art festival in Alexandria. The aim of the festival is to promote video art to a general audience as well as young artists; to defend video and multimedia Egyptian artists and to support exchanges, confrontations and thought about art, images, new technologies. Les Instants Vid\u00e9o will be active in such an initiative, in supporting the circulation of the works of art between the two sides of the Mediterranean sea, and also in the countries in the south banks with whom we have been working since years (Palestine, Lebanon, Algeria, Morrocco…). The School of art from Aix-en-Provence, France (Labofictions), together with Transvercit\u00e9s \/ plateforme Yasmin \/Rami (France) will hold an international workshop in the Alexandria Faculty of Fine Arts, from April 14th to 20th.<\/p>\n
