This edition is brought together through the efforts and generous contributions of A. M. Qattan Foundation, Goethe-Institut Ramallah, Les Instants Vid\u00e9o Num\u00e9riques et Po\u00e9tiques, Palestinian Art Court -al Hoash, Dar al-Kalima University College of Arts and Culture, Eltiqa Group, Shababek for Contemporary Art, Khalil Sakakini Cultural Centre, Ramallah Municipality, RIWAQ and Birzeit University Museum. This year\u2019s programme encourages festival participants to experience artworks in an urban context and thereby also explore the city through video art and performance. Rich and diverse, the programme engages the public in a variety of events:<\/p>\n<h3>Ramallah<\/h3>\n<p><em><strong>Lurking Green\u00a0<\/strong><\/em>is a video work by Ramzi Maqdisi\u00a0that explores the disruptive appearance in Palestine of Ring-Necked Parakeets. Illegally released into the country decades ago, they adapted quickly to their new environment and have bred in large numbers, competing aggressively with local Hoopoes and Woodpeckers for nesting sites. The hidden scene of the parakeets is brought into conversation with the current geopolitical situation in Palestine. Curated by Yazid Anani and presented by the<a href=\"http:\/\/www.qattanfoundation.org\/en\/sin-festival-video-art-and-performance-5th-edition-12-15-june-2017\"><strong> A. M. Examining how monuments are experienced, shape collective consciousness and entice narratives,\u00a0Desires into Fossils\u00a0opens up into a broader exploration of notions of death, the politics of museumification and the congealing of identity. Over-information, the \u00a0speed at which information is disseminated, the proliferation of digital networks which place an enormous strain on our eyes and ears, ironically make us, human beings, more and more ignorant of the reality of the world, turn us into amnesiacs, unable to see a better future. Wearing earphones, participants in\u00a0Drift explore a city en ensemble without the help of maps or guides, their only collective compass a shared soundtrack. The work prods them to experience their surroundings in a playful and adventurous way, discovering paths and spaces otherwise overlooked and neglected. Drift will take place on June 12th and 13th in Jerusalem and on June 14th in Ramallah.<\/p>\n<h3>Gaza<\/h3>\n<p>Curated by Shareef Sarhan and Raed Issa and jointly presented by <a href=\"http:\/\/www.eltiqa.com\/en\"><strong>Eltiqa Group<\/strong> <\/a>and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.artwfg.ps\"><strong>Shababeek for Contemporary Art<\/strong><\/a>, the exhibition\u00a0<strong><em>Life in Gaza\u00a0in 90 Seconds<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0addresses the fraught contradictions of everyday life in the Gaza Strip. Comprising a collection of 90 second videos \u00a0(by Mohamed Abusal, Khalid M. Sauvageons, Alaa Atwan, bouffons Othman, Ibrahim Anton Handal). The festival aims to create spaces for the exhibition of and research into video art and performance, and to encourage new forms of seeing and interaction. Building on \u00a0cooperation among its partner institutions, it is intended to introduce new formulas of collective cultural and artistic work.
