{"id":13468,"date":"2024-08-22T21:32:34","date_gmt":"2024-08-22T20:32:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.instantsvideo.com\/blog\/?p=13468"},"modified":"2025-08-06T00:11:28","modified_gmt":"2025-08-05T23:11:28","slug":"the-festival-2024editorial","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.instantsvideo.com\/blog\/en\/2024\/08\/the-festival-2024editorial\/","title":{"rendered":"<small>The festival 2024<\/small><br>Editorial"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Because how do human live?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The scathing portrait of human beings that Bertolt Brecht paints in his 1928 play <em>The Threepenny Opera<\/em> remains sadly relevant today: a society of discrimination, closed classes, scheming and hypocrisy, where injustice is present at every level.\u00a0<br>Or the rise of the extreme right in Europe, of dictatorships around the world, of <strong>Gaza<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So Mrs Peachum would still be right today when she says:&nbsp;<br><em>Because what does a human being live on? He who constantly<\/em><br><em>Robs, harasses, attacks, suffocates and eats his fellow man.<\/em><br><em>Yes, what holds humans together is that they hasten<\/em><br><em>To forget that he is still human.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This 37th edition of the Festival invites us to create <strong>a place of resistance<\/strong> where we can watch together, a place where we can take the time to see,&nbsp;to&nbsp;compare and to make <strong>images<\/strong> appear before our critical eyes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.instantsvideo.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/Capture-decran-2024-09-02-a-10.38.41.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"318\" src=\"https:\/\/www.instantsvideo.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/Capture-decran-2024-09-02-a-10.38.41-1024x318.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-13795\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.instantsvideo.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/Capture-decran-2024-09-02-a-10.38.41-1024x318.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.instantsvideo.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/Capture-decran-2024-09-02-a-10.38.41-300x93.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.instantsvideo.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/Capture-decran-2024-09-02-a-10.38.41-768x239.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.instantsvideo.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/Capture-decran-2024-09-02-a-10.38.41-480x149.jpg 480w, https:\/\/www.instantsvideo.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/Capture-decran-2024-09-02-a-10.38.41.jpg 1500w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/a><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\"><em>First sex<\/em> (5&rsquo;23 &#8211; 2023) \/ Oksana Chepelyk (Ukraine)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Faced with the flow of images that create ignorance and oblivion, that feed our fears, the works on display will accompany us, sometimes lightly, often poetically, always with the necessary distance to enable us <strong>to activate a reflection, a thought <\/strong>against the tetany and lament.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Some works will take side roads <strong>to fight censorship and exist<\/strong>. Despite everything.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Others will be moved away from conventional venues and <strong>installed in political and social spaces<\/strong>, such as primary schools,&nbsp;a&nbsp;university, health and social facilities or&nbsp;a&nbsp;restaurant.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The festival will also act as a <em><strong>Museum of Solidarity<\/strong><\/em>, hosting the 8th Palestinian biennial \/si:n\/, which has been forced into exile. The human in that it celebrates&nbsp;<strong>creolisation<\/strong>&nbsp;(\u00c9douard Glissant) \u2018*this process of bringing differences into contact, constantly exchanging and metamorphosing\u2019.&nbsp;Isn&rsquo;t that what human beings LIVE for?
