Dans le lit d\u2019une rivi\u00e8re, sc\u00e8ne qui ressemble \u00e0 la c\u00e9l\u00e8bre peinture de J.E. Millais repr\u00e9sentant le personnage mourant d\u2019Oph\u00e9lia, appara\u00eet la r\u00e9alisatrice. Elle parle continuellement \u00e0 la cam\u00e9ra. Son discours reste abstrait jusqu\u2019\u00e0 ce que la vid\u00e9o soit lue en sens inverse et que les mots reviennent dans leur ordre initial, r\u00e9v\u00e9lant ainsi une phrase \u00e9voquant les enchev\u00eatrements complexe du langage, des images et des r\u00f4les sociaux.<\/p>\n

Through a monologue spoken backwards, the video deals with discriminatory depictions of women in the past and present. In a river scene, resembling J. E. Millais\u2018 famous painting of Shakespeare\u2019s dying character Ophelia, the filmmaker appears. She speaks constantly into the camera. Her speech remains abstract until the video plays backwards and elicits the words in their original order, revealing a statement about the complex entanglements of language, image and social roles.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n
