An American environmentalist, after the decisions of the US government to continue with policies that will increase global warming, decides to self-inmolate to send a message, inspired by a Buddhist monk uprooted from his homeland years ago, for opposing both sides in the Vietnam War\u2026 these seemingly unconnected but internally dependent events on one another are broadcasted in Ecuador via Youtube under the gaze of the documentary filmmaker, who, when he leaves the screen, meets his 3-year-old son who marvels at the flowers growing in the garden. In this crossing of realities, a reflection on childhood and its innocence in a world threatened by human cruelty and climate change is interwoven. Son court-m\u00e9trage documentaire \u00ab\u00a0What the Soil Remembers\u00a0\u00bb a remport\u00e9 le prix IFFR Ammodo Tiger du court-m\u00e9trage \u00e0 l’IFFR de Rotterdam en 2023 et le prix du meilleur court-m\u00e9trage documentaire au Festival international du film de Regina, au Canada. Apr\u00e8s avoir \u00e9t\u00e9 s\u00e9lectionn\u00e9 pour son premier long-m\u00e9trage \u00ab\u00a0Iwianch, The Devil Deer\u00a0\u00bb au 59e Festival du film d’Ann Arbor, il a remport\u00e9 le prix Tom Berman du cin\u00e9aste le plus prometteur. His short documentary \u00ab\u00a0What the Soil Remembers\u00a0\u00bb won the IFFR Ammodo Tiger Short Film Award at IFFR Rotterdam 2023 and Best Doc-Short Form at the Regina International Film Festival in Canada. After being selected for his first feature film \u00ab\u00a0Iwianch, The Devil Deer\u00a0\u00bb at the 59th Ann Arbor Film Festival, he won the Tom Berman Award for the most promising filmmaker. He worked for BBC, 100 Women as film director of the chapter in Ecuador of the series: The Femicide Detectives.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n
