A l’abri des regards, comme si rien ne se passait, le monde occidental reste silencieux.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The sound depicts pro-Palestinian demonstrations in Limassol, Cyprus, 375 kilometres away from Gaza, which is situated behind the horizon. Hidden from sight, as if nothing is happening, the Western world remains silent.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

L\u2019\u0153uvre de Toni Me\u0161trovi\u0107 se pr\u00e9sente principalement sous la forme d\u2019installations vid\u00e9o et sonores et traite des th\u00e8mes de l\u2019h\u00e9ritage culturel, de l\u2019identit\u00e9 et des transformations survenues en Dalmatie depuis la p\u00e9riode de transition. Tout en distillant ces th\u00e8mes de mani\u00e8re personnelle, \u00e0 travers une perception personnelle de la mer et de la culture insulaire o\u00f9 il a grandi, certaines de ses pr\u00e9occupations constantes sont l\u2019assimilation du temps lin\u00e9aire et cyclique et l\u2019\u00e9puisement d\u2019un type de r\u00e9cit de la vie quotidienne, ainsi qu\u2019un large \u00e9ventail de sujets de changement \u2013 \u200b\u200bcomme un enregistrement de l\u2019\u00e9vaporation de l\u2019eau ou comme un commentaire sur le changement social ou culturel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Toni Me\u0161trovi\u0107\u2019s work is predominantly in form of video and sound installations and deals with themes of cultural heritage, identity and the transformations that have occurred in Dalmatia since the period of transition. While distilling those topics in a personal way, through a personal perception of the sea and the island culture where he grew up, some of his continuous preoccupations are assimilation of linear and cyclical time and the exhaustion of a quotidian-life type of narrative, as well as a wide range of topics of change – as a record of evaporation of water or as a commentary on social or cultural change.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n
