L’\u0153uvre \u00ab Les barricades sont des ponts et les id\u00e9es ne peuvent pas \u00eatre abattues \u00bb traite des barricades et du caract\u00e8re r\u00e9volutionnaire de ces soi-disant ponts. Bas\u00e9e sur la premi\u00e8re photographie d’une barricade \u00e0 Paris, l’installation vid\u00e9o place des barricades historiques \u00e0 partir de lithographies de la r\u00e9volution de 1848 \u00e0 Vienne, dans des lieux originaux film\u00e9s en utilisant des rendus 3D. L’ouvrage traite de l’architecture des barricades, des luttes historiques ainsi que de leur culture et de leurs techniques culturelles et se demande si les barricades peuvent (pourraient) \u00eatre consid\u00e9r\u00e9es comme des ponts ? Il examine les mod\u00e8les contemporains de m\u00e9moire, d\u2019ordre et de d\u00e9sordre sociaux, et explore si le progr\u00e8s et le changement ne peuvent avoir lieu que dans des conditions de perturbation et de bouleversement. L’installation s’inscrit dans une recherche plus large qui traite dans un sens plus restreint de la r\u00e9volution de 1848, de son histoire, de sa culture du souvenir et des clivages entre ouvriers et bourgeoisie.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The work ‘Barricades are bridges and ideas cannot be shot’ deals with barricades and the revolutionary character of these so-called bridges. Based on the first photograph of a barricade in Paris, the video installation places historical barricades from lithographs of the 1848 revolution in Vienna, in filmed original locations by using 3D renderings. The work deals with the architecture of barricades, the historical struggles as well as their culture and cultural techniques and asks whether barricades can (could) be seen as bridges? It examines contemporary patterns of memory, social order and disorder, and explores whether progress and change can only take place under the condition of disruption and upheaval. The installation is part of a larger research that deals in a narrower sense with the revolution of 1848, with its history, its culture of remembrance and the rifts between workers and the bourgeoisie.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Johannes Gierlinger<\/strong> (* 1985)\u00a0A \u00e9tudi\u00e9 \u00e0 l’Acad\u00e9mie des Beaux-Arts de Vienne. Dans son travail, il traite de l’historiographie ainsi que des formes de m\u00e9moire, de souvenir et de r\u00e9sistance. Il explore les lectures, les doutes et les images futures possibles sous forme d’un travail essayistique. Johannes Gierlinger<\/strong> (* 1985)\u00a0Studied at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna. In his work he deals with historiography as well as with forms of memory, remembrance and resistance. He explores readings, doubts and possible future images in the form of essayistic work.
