Dans le cadre d&rsquo;une conversation entre mon grand-p\u00e8re et moi, alors que la nostalgie de la maison devient une partie de la maison, nos exp\u00e9riences personnelles nous unissent dans les souvenirs. La terre est notre t\u00e9moin et la m\u00e9moire, notre r\u00e9sistance, devient notre performance.\u00a0 En fa\u00e7onnant les m\u00e9moires de mon retour personnel, ce film est une affirmation que l&rsquo;amalgame qui constitue mon identit\u00e9 complexe appartient au cadeau fait par mon grand-p\u00e8re et son histoire et honor\u00e9 par les g\u00e9n\u00e9rations qui ont suivi la sienne. Formant une imagerie de souvenirs complexes, d&rsquo;archives, d&rsquo;histoires et d&rsquo;imagination, ce film est une mani\u00e8re apprise d&rsquo;inscrire mon existence dans un r\u00e9cit. Ainsi, je cherche les senteurs qu&rsquo;ils portent dans les vignes de jasmin.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the jasmine vines<em> is an experimental film portrait of my relationship to home and relatives. Within a discourse between my grandfather and myself, as the yearning for home becomes a part of the home, our personal experiences unite us in the memories. The land is our witness and the memory, our resistance, becomes our performance. Shaping a memoir of my personal return, this film is an assertion that the amalgam that makes my complex identity belongs, gifted by my grandfather and his story and honoured by the generations following his. Forming an imagery of complex memory, archive, story and imagination, this film is a learnt way to place my existence within a narrative. D&rsquo;origine palestinienne et \u00e9gyptienne et \u00e9lev\u00e9e \u00e0 Montr\u00e9al, Qu\u00e9bec, son travail, sa pratique et ses int\u00e9r\u00eats de recherche se concentrent sur les transmissions interg\u00e9n\u00e9rationnelles de souvenirs, de d\u00e9placements et d&rsquo;histoires d&rsquo;appartenance et d&rsquo;identit\u00e9 \u00e0 travers une lentille po\u00e9tique et hybride. El-Omari est titulaire d&rsquo;un baccalaur\u00e9at en beaux-arts, d&rsquo;un baccalaur\u00e9at en production cin\u00e9matographique et d&rsquo;une ma\u00eetrise en cin\u00e9ma de l&rsquo;Universit\u00e9 York.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em><strong>Nada El-Omari<\/strong> is a filmmaker and writer currently based in Toronto. Of Palestinian and Egyptian origin and raised in Montreal, Quebec, her work, practice and research interests centre on the intergenerational transmissions of memories, displacement and the stories of belonging and identity through a poetic, hybrid lens.
