Fenz Flower is a visual and sound poem for late filmmaker Robert Fenz. Themes of freedom and materiality in film are introduced, in the trail of Fenz legacy. Musical soundtrack is by Australian composer and performing artist Lawrence English. Visual is a short reel exploring 16mm material with a unique photograph taken from a stroll in the mountain, expanding into an organic beat. Accompanied with the voice-over of late American experimental filmmaker Robert Fenz (1969-2020), this short experimental film is a poem for Robert Fenz, a testimony to analog filmmaking and an introduction to free cinema.<\/em><\/p>\n

Constance Barth\u00e9lemy<\/strong> s’est sp\u00e9cialis\u00e9e dans les \u00e9tudes culturelles et les repr\u00e9sentations imaginaires lors de ses \u00e9tudes \u00e0 l’Institut de Sciences Politiques de Grenoble (2009-2015). Ses th\u00e8mes sont les sous-cultures alternatives, l’art exp\u00e9rimental et ind\u00e9pendant \u00e0 l’\u00e8re post-moderne. En 2012, elle a \u00e9crit une th\u00e8se sur les identit\u00e9s rebelles dans la musique m\u00e9tal. En 2013, elle r\u00e9alise et produit son premier court m\u00e9trage KICK OUT THE JAM SYDNEY SUBURBS, un documentaire de 30 minutes sur la musique alternative dans la banlieue ouest et le centre-ouest de Sydney. En 2015, elle entreprend une r\u00e9sidence de six mois dans un laboratoire de cin\u00e9ma 16 mm et \u00e9crit SUN ON MY SKIN, un essai sur le cin\u00e9ma exp\u00e9rimental et l’essence d’un acte libre. Son film de fiction de 2 minutes SUGAR BLUES a remport\u00e9 le prix du public Take48 du Underground Film Festival en 2020. Apr\u00e8s avoir \u00e9tudi\u00e9 la photographie \u00e0 l’Ecole Nationale Sup\u00e9rieure d’Arles en 2022, elle r\u00e9alise un troisi\u00e8me court m\u00e9trage compos\u00e9 d’images num\u00e9ris\u00e9es en 16 mm et d’extraits de voix, FENZ FLOWER. . Le film est un po\u00e8me visuel et sonore pour le regrett\u00e9 cin\u00e9aste Robert Fenz. La bande originale est du compositeur exp\u00e9rimental australien Lawrence English. Constance Barth\u00e9lemy specialised in cultural studies and imaginary representations during her studies at the Political Science Institute of Grenoble (2009-2015). Her themes are alternative subcultures, experimental and independent art in the post-modern era. In 2012 she wrote a thesis about rebellious identities in metal music. In 2013 she directed and produced her first short film KICK OUT THE JAM SYDNEY SUBURBS, a 30 minutes documentary about alternative music in the western suburbs and inner west of Sydney. In 2015, she undertook a six month residency in a 16mm film laboratory and wrote SUN ON MY SKIN, an essay about experimental cinema and the essence of a free act. Her 2-min fiction film SUGAR BLUES won the Underground Film Festival Take48 Audience Award in 2020. After studying photography at the Ecole Nationale Sup\u00e9rieure d’Arles in 2022, she completed a third short film made of 16mm digitalised images and voice extracts, FENZ FLOWER.
