Tout au plus peut-on \u00e9voquer un caract\u00e8re pr\u00e9moderne puisque la nature semble \u00eatre encore la principale interlocutrice. Les deux h\u00e9ro\u00efnes s\u2019affairent ici \u00e0 des t\u00e2ches quotidiennes dont la r\u00e9gularit\u00e9 d\u00e9crit une existence r\u00e9gl\u00e9e par les rites les plus anodins : dormir, manger, laver, soit des activit\u00e9s qui inscrivent le r\u00e9cit dans la sph\u00e8re de la domesticit\u00e9. Les actions se substituant aux mots, l\u2019absence de dialogue a pour effet d\u2019accro\u00eetre la pr\u00e9cision des gestes. Pareille chor\u00e9graphie m\u00e9nag\u00e8re est d\u2019autant plus visible que les deux personnages sont comme le double de l\u2019autre. Leur ressemblance physique se d\u00e9ploie d\u2019ailleurs dans leur \u00e9trange mouvement en miroir. Ainsi, la vie journali\u00e8re est empreinte d\u2019un myst\u00e8re que le film ne va cesser d\u2019intensifier, \u00e0 travers le soudain d\u00e9calage entre ces deux corps synchronis\u00e9s. Il est ainsi question de fi\u00e8vre et d\u2019eau, de grotte et de peau, de brume et de sortil\u00e8ge, l\u2019ensemble de ces motifs glissant comme dans un r\u00eave, \u00e0 l\u2019image d\u2019une embarcation brouillant la surface d\u2019un lac, au-devant d\u2019un orgue de pierres, sans que les deux protagonistes n\u2019aient \u00e0 donner un seul coup de pagaie. Entre le devenir statue des deux s\u0153urs jumelles et leur inscription dans un monde liquide, Sarah-Ana\u00efs Desbenoit laisse poindre une dialectique quelque peu magique. La dimension fantomatique qui traverse son film est l\u2019expression d\u2019un dialogue entre les \u00e9l\u00e9ments, comme si ces derniers ne pouvaient surgir que sous la forme d\u2019un trouble, face \u00e0 l\u2019ordonnancement de ces vies trop bien r\u00e9gl\u00e9es. Le corps et l\u2019esprit font alors c\u00e9sure, le r\u00e9el se fissure, et la psych\u00e9 s\u2019ouvre \u00e0 une humeur vagabonde. Les plans-tableaux de Sarah-Ana\u00efs Desbenoit sont tent\u00e9s par le mythe, et, avec lui, par un r\u00e9cit presque premier qui chercherait \u00e0 inventer des figures \u2013 finalement jamais \u00e9gales \u00e0 elles-m\u00eames \u2013. At most one can evoke a premodern character since nature still seems to be the main interlocutor. The two heroines here busy themselves with daily tasks whose regularity describes an existence regulated by the most innocuous rites: sleeping, eating, washing, i.e. activities which place the story in the sphere of domesticity. Actions replacing words, the absence of dialogue has the effect of increasing the precision of gestures. Such household choreography is all the more visible as the two characters are like the double of the other. Their physical resemblance unfolds in their strange mirror movement. Thus, daily life is imbued with a mystery that the film will continue to intensify, through the sudden gap between these two synchronized bodies. It is thus a question of fever and water, of cave and skin, of mist and spell, all of these motifs sliding as in a dream, like a boat blurring the surface of a lake. , in front of a stone organ, without the two protagonists having to give a single stroke of the paddle. Between the becoming of a statue of the two twin sisters and their inscription in a liquid world, Sarah-Ana\u00efs Desbenoit allows a somewhat magical dialectic to emerge. The ghostly dimension that runs through his film is the expression of a dialogue between the elements, as if the latter could only emerge in the form of a disorder, faced with the ordering of these too well-regulated lives. The body and the spirit then make a caesura, the real cracks, and the psyche opens up to a wandering mood. Sarah-Ana\u00efs Desbenoit&rsquo;s table-plans are tempted by myth, and, with it, by an almost primary narrative which seeks to invent figures \u2013 ultimately never equal to themselves \u2013. En 2022, elle r\u00e9alise Phal\u00e8ne, un court m\u00e9trage tourn\u00e9 en 16 mm, qui nous plonge dans un conte compos\u00e9 d&rsquo;une succession de tableaux vivants dans lequel deux s\u0153urs jumelles vont vivre une exp\u00e9rience mystique. Le film a \u00e9t\u00e9 s\u00e9lectionn\u00e9 en comp\u00e9tition (Ammodo Tiger Short Competion) \u00e0 L&rsquo;IFFR (Rotterdam), en premi\u00e8re mondiale. Parall\u00e8lement \u00e0 sa pratique artistique, Sarah-Ana\u00efs est monteuse-\u00e9talonneuse, cheffe op\u00e9ratrice et assistante r\u00e9alisatrice. Elle r\u00e9alise \u00e9galement des clips vid\u00e9o pour des musiciens \u00e9mergents et assiste diff\u00e9rents artistes dans la production audiovisuelle pour des mus\u00e9es et pour des enseignes de haute couture.<\/p>\n<p><em>Born in Paris, Sarah-Ana\u00efs Desbenoit graduated from the \u00c9cole nationale sup\u00e9rieure d&rsquo;arts de Paris-Cergy in 2020, before joining Le Fresnoy &#8211; Studio national. Fueled by long-term research &#8211; developed in particular during a residency at the Thighmert oasis in the Moroccan desert and an internship at the Kujoyama villa in Japan, his work focuses on the mechanisms of appearance and disappearance images and their influences on memory and cognition. Through the creation of miniatures, but also through the use of video, projection and sound, his practice develops around the question of illusion and sublimated disorder. Inviting to meditation and slowing down, his visual and sound installations are designed as liminal places where several layers of reality are superimposed. In 2022, she directed Phal\u00e8ne, a short film shot in 16 mm, which immerses us in a tale composed of a succession of tableaux vivants in which two twin sisters will live a mystical experience. The film was selected in competition (Ammodo Tiger Short Competition) at IFFR (Rotterdam), as a world premiere. Alongside her artistic practice, Sarah-Ana\u00efs is an editor-grader, cinematographer and assistant director.
