Political Showdown<\/i>, le montage vid\u00e9o de photographies, trouv\u00e9es sur le net, de poign\u00e9es de main et de bras de fer, illustre la potentielle r\u00e9versibilit\u00e9 de la n\u00e9gociation politique. Signe d\u2019un accord ou d\u2019une entente manifeste, la poign\u00e9e de main peut tout aussi bien se retourner contre elle-m\u00eame et trahir une rivalit\u00e9 latente, un rapport de force, qu\u2019il soit personnel ou g\u00e9opolitique, et bien souvent les deux. Les contacts physiques entre Trump et Macron, pour le moins fermes et toniques, ont ainsi toujours \u00e9t\u00e9 pour chacun l\u2019occasion de d\u00e9montrer \u00e0 la fois leur virilit\u00e9 et la puissance de leur pays. La ph\u00e9nom\u00e9nologie de ce geste hautement connot\u00e9, et la n\u00e9cessaire r\u00e9ciprocit\u00e9 touchant-touch\u00e9 qu\u2019elle implique, se pr\u00eate alors \u00e0 dire la substituabilit\u00e9 des parties engag\u00e9es. \u00ab\u00a0Political Showdown\u00a0\u00bb is a video montage of photographs found on the Internet of handshakes and arm wrestling, illustrates the potential reversibility of political negotiation. A sign of an agreement or a clear understanding, the handshake can just as easily turn against itself and betray a latent rivalry, a power struggle, whether personal or geopolitical, and often both.

Originally from Marseille, Julie Gaubert graduated from the \u00c9cole Sup\u00e9rieure d’Art de Tourcoing in 2020. Sensitive to the ways in which we make ourselves visible and heard, through various modes of existence, she enjoys thinking about our ways of popular expression and representation in various forms. Fond of actions in the public space, she situates her projects in various social and political contexts.
