There is an access to the surrealist dream world through the contrasts between image, sound and text, as well as the superimposition of images inspired by painting. However this short film is also composed with a simple cinematographic language which makes it a haiku of the moving image. In its impressionistic shape it searches to connect by translating an inner sensation of landscape, and a natural flow of the elements. It is a bite sized elementary exchange in between heart, soul and bodily feeling. It talks of summer storms as expressions of the feminine force which inhabits us all in multiple ways. In it’s simplicity Just listen to the storm is a gentle call to the senses and an extention of human tenderness. It takes into account the brutality of the natural world and questions poetically the iconography of ‘the woman’.

Website

Hannah Papacek Harper est une réalisatrice australienne et nord-américaine, née en France. diplômée en Esthétique et Pratique du Cinéma de l’Université Paris 1 Sorbonne Panthéon et de l’Université de Lima au Pérou en 2015.
