L\u2019acc\u00e8s \u00e0 la vitesse permis par le d\u00e9veloppement du moteur thermique n\u2019a pas \u00e9t\u00e9 sans cons\u00e9quences sur notre environnement sonore, sur la qualit\u00e9 de l\u2019air que nous respirons et in fine sur notre climat. Or, si la r\u00e9duction de l\u2019effet de serre constitue sur le papier un objectif pour les \u00c9tats, dans les faits, la question \u00e9cologique n\u2019est pas trait\u00e9e ou pire, elle est invisibilis\u00e9e, d\u00e9localis\u00e9e. Voil\u00e0 qui sonne pour l\u2019artiste comme un syst\u00e8me entropique qui m\u00e9rite d\u2019\u00eatre mis en musique, tels les violons du Titanic. Il prend ici la forme d\u2019un orgue de Barbarie automatique \u2013 plus ou moins chaotique \u2014 avec le flux en direct d’une cam\u00e9ra de surveillance braqu\u00e9e sur l’A7 en guise de partition.<\/p>\n

The access to speed allowed by the development of the internal combustion engine has not been without consequences on our noise environment, on the quality of the air we breathe and ultimately on our climate. However, if the reduction of the greenhouse effect constitutes on paper an objective for the States, in fact, the ecological question is not treated or worse, it is invisibilized, delocalized. For the artist, this sounds like an entropic system that deserves to be set to music, like the violins of the Titanic. It takes here the form of an automatic barrel organ \u2014 more or less chaotic \u2014 with the live feed from a surveillance camera pointed at the A7 highway.<\/em><\/p>\n

Filipe Vilas-Boas<\/strong>, n\u00e9 au Portugal en 1981, est un artiste conceptuel autodidacte qui vit et travaille actuellement \u00e0 Paris. Sans \u00eatre un utopiste technologique na\u00eff ou un technophobe r\u00e9ticent, il explore notre utilisation de la technologie et ses implications \u00e9thiques et esth\u00e9tiques. Filipe Vilas-Boas was born in Portugal in 1981. He is a self-taught conceptual artist currently living and working in Paris. Without being a naive tech utopist or a reluctant technophobe, he explores our use of technology and its ethical and aesthetic implications. His installations, performances and conceptual artworks question the global digitalization of our societies, mostly by merging our physical (IRL) and digital (URL) worlds. His works were highlighted in the Portuguese Emerging Art Books, 2018 & 2019 Edition and have been shown internationally notably at Nuit Blanche Paris, the Unesco, Biennale Siana, Le Cube, The French Ministry of Culture, Biennale N\u00e9mo – Le 104 (FR), Athens Digital Art Festival, Monitor – Heraklion Contemporary Arts Festival (GR), Zaratan, MAAT Museum (PT) and at the Tate Modern (UK).<\/p>\n
