Grouping together and division of the shapes alternate. The bodies are sometimes suggested by a line or by a sparkling effect but always give the impression of approaching unity. We are watching a sort of choreography where the exchange and the echo are made by simple gestures, where each movement is extended, where each person seems to be interchangeable. The first gestures in this choreography are ones of genesis, a simple circular movement. Sometimes the symmetry of the two women is not completely accurate; it is adorned with Jean-Yves Bosseur's slightly off-centre isomorphic music Ë which is exceptional in Thierry Kuntzel's videos which are always silent. The sound should be barely perceptible when listened to, as if it is dying out. Echolalia is a psychiatric term for the unconscious repetition of words which have been heard. Echoalia is also the way in which a small child learns to speak. It is a language before language a "language corpus" (Raymond Bellour). This language is one of modifications of pitch, variations in intonation, rhythm and intensity of sound. Comparatively-speaking, video is a visual language made up of multiple instances of intensity and variations (colour, light,...). And Echolalia demonstrates, in particular, that the body in the video is a body of light subjected to rhythms and intensity. It is a picture that functions according to videographic writing methods, which is only the diffusion of light. As they emerge, the silhouettes make use of symmetry / dissymetry and the subtle manipulation of a mirror. The mirror 1 has a special importance in the genesis of the body inasmuch as the identification generated by the image it reflects is the moment where the "I" is metamorphosed into a vital form, before any objectification in its relationship to the other and before language appears to bestow on him the function of a subject in the universe. The personified action of the ego is determined before its social determination, in pure fiction. The first unifying image of the body is formed from reverse symmetry. There is a sort of split in the work which fosters the search for unity. The minute variations in the movement of Echolalia call on the viewer to put right the divisions in representation. It is by his anticipation of the coming gesture that he can complete the process. He, himself, becomes the echolalia of Echolalia. Occasionally, the substance on the screen is nothing but a distant echo which has difficulty in surging onto the surface of the screen, which only draws something faintly reminiscent of the representation. In these moments, the spectator's memory and mental process function, they are the passers, the mirror of the video, its echo. Echolalia is one of Thierry Kuntzel's first videos from the period 1979-1980, which tackle temporal and msnesic notions with a concern for the actual substance of video. En tant qu’auteur, je devais chanter l’épopée de José Carlos Mariategui et de Antonio Gramsci. Il fallait crier, alors j’ai changé le Chant en Cri. Ainsi, j’ai pu crier avec les séquences d’images-couleurs en mouvement et montrer le cri Art-tronique du monument, la troisième découverte internationale comme les… anticipatrices de l’ADN : les mêmes symboles de la double hélice entrecroisée, et métaphoriser encore la chasse de l’harfang des neiges ou petit rat comme l’image terrible de la guerre assassine. De la même façon, j’ai allégorisé la question des cris du langage contemporain dans les gliphes des peuples mayas et de ceux qui ont été bourrés par l’histoire dans les cinq cents années des holocaustes, pas seulement en Amérique Latine. Et c’est dans l’esprit de ce cri, comme un chant renversé, que j’ai pu essayer la poésie de l’homme-serpent qui monte sur les escaliers des pyramides pour se transformer en oiseau, en aigle et finalement en homme (si l’humanité existait déjà, mais nous sommes encore dans la préhistoire de l’espèce armée et guerrière). A la fin, j’ai pu montrer le peu d’images cinématographiques que l’on a pu retrouver comme un miracle de la conscience cinématique. Ce deuxième cri est donc aussi le cri des images artroniques, picturales, sculpturistes et chromatiques. La sonate en rouge majeur est un CD de la poésie électronique… Mais déjà nous allons au Troisième Cri qui sera la conclusion de cette étrange trilogie “TUPACANAUTA”. Les découvertes de l’art électronique continuent… Gianni Toti Note de contenu : It had been announced as the second canto after the videopoemopera TUPAC AMAUTA - first canto. But could we sing under the bombs that the globalizing European nation (French, Italians, English) were dropping on our people? Could we sing, under the deadly bombs, the epic of José Carlos MARIATEGUI and Antonio GRAMSCI ? It was better to turn the song into a cry. To make the sequences of moving image-colour cry and to show the artronic counter-songs of the monument in Chlebnikov and Tatlin to the Third International, rediscovered as the very symbol of the interlaced double helix of the human genome that structures DNA. Or again, to "metaphorize" the snowy owl's hunting of the little rat, that opens the terrible allegory of war, which cannot be sung. In the same weird fashion, to deal with the "rhetorems" of the crises of contemporary language in the glyphs of the Maya and of other peoples, who have been run across by 500 years of holocaust (not only in Latin America). In this train of thought, the cry, like an reversed song, develops the great metaphor of Quetzalcoatl, the serpent that creeps up the steps of the pyramid and turns into a bird, into an eagle and finally into a man (if humanity existed yet... but we are still in the prehistory of that species of armed murderers and warriors). In the end, we have managed to show the few cinematic images we could find in a sudden awakening in Antonio GRAMSCI's story and in consciousness. The second cry is thus also that of the pictorial, sculptural and domestic "artronic" images. The "sonata in red major" thus attempts to be a cry of electric poetry… but let us already conceive and prepare the third cry as a conclusion to this strange trilogy. Elle disait comprendre leur langage. Le film est composé d’images tirées de documentaires animaliers. Le commentaire classique de ce type de film glisse petit à petit vers un discours politique de Rosa de 1915, prémonitoire quant aux conséquences de la guerre de 1914-18. Guerre sinistrement fondatrice du siècle qui s’achève aujourd’hui. Note de contenu : She wrote numerous letters to her friends in which she said what she loved apart from politics. She especially talked about the birds and explained how she could understand their language. In their attitudes she found a social structure which is close to her political thoughts. This highlights her sensitivity, her humanity, her poetical aspirations and also her incredible lust for life.
The film is composed by pictures which were extracted from animal documentaries dealing with birds. The classical commentary in this kind of movie progressively slides to a political speech that Rosa Luxembourg said in 1915 and which is a premonition of what was going to happen in the first world war that built the past century. (Inspired by books on ornithology and by the beautiful text written by Jaques Delamain, an ornithologist: why do the birds sing? )

Depuis 2008, je mène plusieurs séries de vidéos en parallèle. Chacune déploie un langage visuel, sonore et narratif propre. Je les pense comme des zones qui gagneraient en définition lorsque le nombre de leur composantes augmente. Aussi, plus la définition augmente, moins le flou est possible. Ces séries contiennent alors dans leur développement les éléments qui font qu'un jour, elles ne sont plus possibles. Ce processus me permet de parler d'identité(s), de (dé)placements, d'individus, de groupes, de leurs langages et des fantômes qu'ils (se) créent. J'ai entrepris ce travail en 2008 lorsqu'alors je travaillais au sein du groupe Art3 à l'ÉSADS. J'avais alors participé à une expérience de tournage de 24 heures dans un studio télé. Cette expérience de vie de groupe à été pour moi la première expérience de «filmage». Elle m'a amené à me poser la question de ma place en tant qu'individu dans un groupe, la question d'une éventuelle individualité des images que j'ai enregistrée, les rapports entre ces images et d'autres que j'enregistrerai ultérieurement, la question — du coup — de la matrice, de la série, de l'anticipation de la série. La liste des questions s'allonge et se rétracte au fur et à mesure que j'ajoute des «battements» à la série. Pulsus paradoxus est un terme médical qui désigne une irrégularité dans le rythme cardiaque. Cette irrégularité est un signe de crise. La particularité de ce signe est qu'il n'est observable qu'a posteriori. Quelle est l'utilité d'une telle information ? Il y a trois langues dans ce film. Deux langues maternelles : le mandarin, le taïwanais et la langue qui « m'expatrie »: le français. Il y a trois chapitres : (1) Les dialogues quotidiens sur ma vie à Taïwan et en France. (2) Devant le poste de télévision, je me sens étrangère. Je me demande comment faire pour retrouver mes souvenirs. Comment faire pour remplir cette rupture ? (3) Je me questionne sur mon impossible identité. Mes repères, mes racines. Comment rendre visible ces ambiguïtés, ce dépaysement intérieur ? J'essaye de régler le « moi d'avant » et le « moi d'aujourd'hui ». La filiation entre la famille et la question de la féminité.
