Dans ces lieux, la nature imposante, les rudes conditions climatiques, ainsi que les activités d’échanges réunissent les gens plus que les frontières ne les séparent. L’objectif de cette création est d’explorer les différents points de contact entre ces lieux historiquement et géographiquement isolés (ils se trouvent à plus de 1000 Kms de leurs capitales respectives) qui sont actuellement en pleine mutation. L’installation est composée de trois éléments. Un diptyque qui met en valeur les contrastes et les ressemblances plastiques entre les deux régions. Un espace interactif qui traite le sujet des frontières invisibles. Un espace « Dessine-moi une histoire » qui témoigne d’un travail réalisé avec des enfants des deux zones chaque groupe a conçu des dessins à partir d’une légende de l’autre bout du monde. Note de contenu : With this project we create links - sometimes plastic, sometimes human – between two distant regions which have in common their situation at the border between three countries. One is Arctic (« North » border in Lapland : Finland, Sweden and Norway), the other is tropical (« South » border in Misiones : Argentina, Brazil and Paraguay). In these places the imposing nature, the rough climate conditions and the exchange activities unite people more than the borders divide them. The goal of this creation is to explore the different contact points between these places which are historically and geographically isolated (they are 1000 Km away from their respective capital cities) and currently undergoing radical transformation. The installation is composed of three elements. A diptych which emphasizes the contrasts and plastic similarities between the two regions. An interactive space which deals with the subject of invisible borders. A « Draw me a story » space which shows the work made with children from both areas. Ever since then, the phenomenon has interested researchers. In 1996, the White Man was seen again in America. This time, the event was foreseen, and an alert film team succeeded in capturing the man on celluloid as he was cutting through woods. Later, the man was seen in New York’s Times Square with an inflatable globe along on his journey. Researchers have long suspected that the White Man has an important role in Arlington, VA, near Washington, at the Tomb of the Unknown soldier.
