Imaginez un portrait de l’Autriche filmé par Jan Svankmajer et David Lynch, inspiré du film Le Cabinet du Dr Caligari : vous aurez alors une première impression de l’œuvre fantastique de Bady Minck. Au commencement était le regard, dans laquelle un écrivain explore l’Autriche à travers des cartes postales. Le Mont Erzberg et Salzbourg deviennent des paysages entre rêve et cauchemar. Quant aux textes cachés au dos des cartes postales, ils sont comme un chuchotement glissé de façon subtile sur les images : ce sont des textes terribles, douloureux, écrits par des inconnus au fil des ans. Une tension permanente entre texte et image, un suspens entre culture et paysage (Hans Schifferle, Süddeutsche Zeitung, Munich). Note de contenu : The result of five years of work is a 45-minute art movie about Austrian landscapes. The film alternates between multiple exposures, single frame techniques, time-lapse and slow motion, and the landscape itself takes center stage. Landscapes are not only pictured, but their structures and changes over time are made visible by the use of thousands of picture postcards. Through the landscapes - Eisenerz and Salzburg - travels the writer Bodo Hell. This performance dealt with plagiarism, and value.
I had asked artists to donate artworks, which I would transform through my performance into another piece. I would also free the works from having to stay in an atelier for – maybe – years without attention. I myself gave two artworks which were clear imitations of Gelatins work.
The performance itself was a destroying frenzy.
Afterwards the artist got a digital image of the action from me – in exchange for their work.

We extracted the famous scene where the three adolescent protagonists are running through Parisian Louvre in 9.43 minutes; and re-composed it as animation.
The original footage has been rasterized so one can see the single dots. These dots are replaced with Macarons in their typical colours and flavours. As an effect the new frame looks abstract on the one hand, but on the other hand the details of the single Macarons are visible.
