Chaque année à Zagreb, la population vide caves et greniers dans la rue. Les objets de récupération, les déchets, les « monstres » s’animent. Le son de ce film a été saisi par Pavlica Bajsic, sœur de notre ami poète Tomica. Note de contenu : An animated documentary recording the annual collection of bulky household refuse in Zagreb. Every summer the city of Zagreb organises the collection of unwanted large household objects starting at the periphery of Zagreb and moving towards the city centre. The collection points change every two or three days so that at various places around the city the streets are piled with discarded objects. These objects are in transition, in between – not yet ‘rubbish’ but recognisably out of place, a threat to good order. The film is a combination of live action and stop-frame animation. The film questions the status of these objects in transition – objects not quite categorised as ‘rubbish’ as their previous identity still clings to them, but it also questions itself as it employs methods of both documentary film making and animation film making. The soundtrack incorporates the various interactions occurring during the making of the film with the citizens of Zagreb and the Roma people who recycle the discarded objects. Le bal de l’Opéra Viennois a longtemps été en Croatie considéré comme le pinacle de la haute société, et Vienne comme le coeur d’un imaginaire culturel croate et un héritage politique de l’Empire austro-hongrois. La source imaginaire formant l’identité croate est Vienne. Ce bal est principalement une initiative commerciale. Ce qui est en vente, c’est l’imaginaire d’un passé colonial, la volonté d’un sujet colonisé d’appartenir la nation mère.
